Elevator Fuse Guide — Where to Look & the Compass Trick
Find a replacement fuse in boxes or lockers, restore the elevator, and understand the patch-sensitive Compass substitute.
Direct answer
When the fuse modifier blows the elevator fuse, search boxes and lockers in the Deep Layer, bring a replacement back, and insert it in the elevator's fuse slot. Current community demonstrations also show a Compass working as a substitute, but that shortcut is not documented by the developer and may change in a patch.

How to recognize a fuse run
Read the elevator symbols before the descent. The community symbol demonstration shows that the fuse icon signals a fuse objective; when the elevator reaches the layer, the installed fuse fails. The crew must restore the fuse slot before the elevator can complete its normal departure sequence.
Where to find a replacement fuse
Search boxes and lockers rather than loose floor loot. The focused fuse walkthrough demonstrates both container types and points to boarded-room layouts as a useful place to check because they can contain a locker or box. Generated layouts vary, so use that as a search pattern, not a guaranteed fixed room location.
Replace the elevator fuse
- Confirm the fuse symbol before or during the descent.
- Mark the elevator so the crew can return quickly.
- Search nearby rooms for boxes and lockers.
- Pick up the fuse and carry it back to the elevator.
- Insert it into the visible fuse slot.
- Complete any remaining gold or extraction requirement before leaving.
Can a Compass replace the fuse?
Yes in the community-tested build shown by two current videos: a Compass can be placed in the fuse slot and makes the elevator usable without finding the normal replacement. Treat this as a patch-sensitive shortcut, not an official guarantee. If the live build rejects the Compass, search the normal containers and trust the current game behavior.
How to search without losing the run
Split only when the nearby routes are understood. One player can hold the elevator route while the others check short branches, but do not scatter the whole crew across the map with no rally call. Carry high-value loot back before the fuse search gets dangerous, preserve stamina for the return trip, and announce the fuse as soon as someone finds it.
Common fuse mistakes
Replacing the fuse does not erase other run requirements. Do not assume the first boarded area must contain the item, do not spend all stamina searching a straight corridor, and do not process noisy loot while the fuse carrier is alone. If you brought a Compass specifically for the shortcut, confirm that sacrificing it is worth avoiding the search in that run.
