Current-release footage documents that melee items break when their durability reaches zero. Stop using a valuable weapon before that point if you want to repair it later. Watch the live durability indicator rather than relying on a fixed swing count: the item, target and balance patch can all change how long it lasts.

Biggy's tutorial identifies the starter mallet as a tool for breaking weaker constructs into scrap. It can help in an emergency, but community walkthroughs warn that Corrupted are often too dangerous to treat the mallet as a general combat answer. Preserve it for the objects that fund the run and use cover, traps or escape routes when a fight has no clear payoff.

A current extraction guide demonstrates placing a small number of spare tools on the elevator floor before departure. That gives the crew replacements without filling every carried slot. Do not stack excessive duplicates: the same guide reports that older items can disappear when the limit is exceeded. Bring enough to recover from one break, not a pile you cannot account for.

Upgrade the Outpost room tied to Murch's merchandise and check the shop after each level. A demo-only max-room demonstration showed Compass access at the first inventory tier, a gun at the second, and a sword plus hammer at the third. That is a historical demo order, not a permanent version 1.0 promise.

The official launch list confirms the Enchantment & Repair Machine, and current full-release gameplay demonstrates it repairing and enchanting equipment upstairs. If the Repair Machine is not available in your save, continue the Outpost quest and second-floor progression. Once available, follow the machine's current item, currency and confirmation prompts. Demonstrated labels include Reinforced, Sharpened and Electrified, but this guide does not publish a fixed cost or ranking from one gameplay session.

Do not use the last healthy mallet on low-value clutter when the crew still needs scrap-producing targets. Do not carry an expensive weapon into a run you are already planning to abandon late. Do not assume a gun makes an aggressive route safe: noise, stamina and positioning still matter. Most importantly, extract a valuable tool instead of gambling it on one more room when the vessel is already damaged.
